WASHINGTON− Congressman Chuck Fleischmann released the following statement regarding the Ebola virus in the United States.

“Ebola is a serious crisis and calls for a serious response, which is why the House appropriated more money for the CDC than requested. I urge the President to keep all options on the table, including a travel ban. My heart goes out to the Americans and all people who have been impacted by Ebola, and I will implore the administration to use every tool possible to combat this virus and keep Americans safe."

WASHINGTON− After learning the news of United States Attorney General Eric Holder’s resignation, Congressman Fleischmann made the following statement.

“During his nearly six year tenure, Eric Holder vastly overstepped his bounds as Attorney General. From ‘Fast and Furious’ to his handling of the IRS targeting scandal, Holder abused the power of his office. It is my sincere hope that Holder’s successor will have a greater commitment to the rule of law.”

WASHINGTON- Today, the House of Representatives passed a critical Continuing Resolution which will keep the government open until the end of the fiscal year and maintain funding for significant government operations.

WASHINGTON− This afternoon, the House passed the American Super Computing Leadership Act, which supports much of the vital work done at Oak Ridge National Lab. Prior to its passage, Congressman Fleischmann spoke on behalf of the Act.

WASHINGTON− This morning, Tennessee’s entire Republican House and Senate delegation co-signed a letter written by Chuck Fleischmann to President Obama demanding answers about the administration’s handling of the release of 760 unaccompanied alien children to sponsors in Tennessee. The letter was written in support of Governor Bill Haslam’s request for the President’s immediate attention to this pressing issue. Congressman Fleischmann released the following statement in response to the letter.

WASHINGTON− The House of Representatives passed legislation to authorize funding for a new lease and expanded Veterans Affairs clinic in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This veterans’ package has been approved by the House and Senate Conference Committee. This expansion of the VA clinic in Hamilton County is the fourth huge victory for veterans in the third district this year.
