Social Security
There is no doubt the United States faces severe financial problems. Much of this is due to reckless government policies which have pushed our nation into more than $19 trillion in debt. I am determined to change this pattern of fiscal recklessness by continuing to reduce spending.
While I am committed to reducing spending in many areas of our budget, we must also ensure Social Security can continue to serve current retirees and be available for future generations of hard-working Americans. Having regularly discussed Social Security issues with senior citizens throughout the District, I have repeatedly heard concerns about changes to Social Security. Seniors have come to depend on the program's stability to plan for their futures and it is critical the government honor these obligations.
As your Congressman I remain committed to protecting and preserving Social Security so it can continue to work for every American.
