President Barack Obama drew sharp criticism from Republicans on Capitol Hill on Wednesday following his call for a major cut in the nation's nuclear arms arsenal.

Speaking at the Brandenburg Gate where Presidents Kennedy and Reagan made historic Cold War addresses, Obama called on the U.S. to reduce its nuclear weapons by one-third if Russia would do the same.

Reaction from Republicans in Congress came swift and harshly.

WASHINGTON− Congressman Chuck Fleischmann voted for the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. This bill establishes a nationwide prohibition on aborting unborn children that have surpassed 20 weeks gestation.

WASHINGTON− Congressman Chuck Fleischmann voted today to fully repeal Obamacare. Following passage of the repeal bill he released the following comments.

“Since Democrats blindly passed this legislation, against the will of the American people in 2010, hard working taxpayers have seen $1 trillion dollars in new taxes and over $2 trillion dollars in new spending. This job stifling legislation has been cited by 70% of small businesses as a major obstacle to job creation and is causing restaurants like Hardees to move full-time workers to par-time.

Congressman Fleischmann Introduces Bill Encouraging Government Savings

WASHINGTON− Congressman Chuck Fleischmann today introduced the Employees of America Streamlining for Your (EASY) Savings Actof 2013. The bill creates incentives for federal agencies to find areas of savings and requires those savings to be used to pay down the national debt. The bill has companion legislation sponsored in the Senate by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY).

Congressman Chuck Fleischmann Comments on President Obama’s Overdue Budget

WASHINGTON− In response to the President’s fiscal year 2014 budget request, which was released today, Congressman Fleischmann made the following comments.

“The President finally submitted his budget request; unfortunately even though he took an additional nine weeks he’s again presented a dud of a budget. At a point when our work force is at a 34 year low, what we need are pro-growth policies, not an additional $1.1 trillion in new taxes.

WASHINGTON− Congressman Fleischmann released the following comments on the Department of Labor’s March jobs report. The report showed approximately 496,000 Americans left the work force, dropping the participation rate to only 63.3 percent. That marks the lowest point since the Carter Presidency, in 1979.
