Ending Illegal Immigration and Immigration Reform
First and foremost, I believe we must secure our borders. By increasing the number of border patrol agents, utilizing advanced technology and prioritizing the laws already in place we can strengthen our border security. This will reduce the number of illegal immigrants entering our country.
While it is clear our nation's current immigration system needs change, it is a complex issue that must be addressed by our lawmakers and the American people. Any change to the laws must come from Congress and not the executive branch.
During my time in Congress I have called for substantial and comprehensive reforms to end the scourge of illegal immigration and reform our broken immigration system. Please know I will continue to make the safety of American citizens a top priority as I fight to secure our borders and enforce existing immigration laws.

WASHINGTON− Today, the House of Representatives passed the SAFE Act to suspend the admission of Syrian and Iraqi refugees into the United States until security officials can certify the integrity of the background check process. Following the passage of the SAFE Act Congressman Fleischmann released the following statement.
WASHINGTON− Following the recent acts of terror that took place in Paris, Congressman Fleischmann released the following statement on the United States accepting Syrian refugees.
“In light of the horrendous attacks in Paris, I believe that we must halt our refugee program with Syria until the proper safeguards are in place. The United States has a long and proud tradition of helping those in need, but this is no longer just a humanitarian crisis. Our top priority must always be protecting the American people.”
WASHINGTON− Today, President Obama sent his formal request for Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) against ISIS to Congress. In response, Rep. Chuck Fleischmann released the following statement.
WASHINGTON− Today, House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers announced Appropriations Subcommittee assignments for the second session of the 113th Congress. Representative Fleischmann retained all three of his subcommittees including his important role on the Energy and Water Subcommittee.
