Rep. Fleischmann Speaks in Support of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Historic Lands Reacquisition Act
February 5, 2025
U.S. Representative Chuck Fleischmann (TN-03) led debate on the Floor of the United States House of Representatives, calling on his colleagues to support his bill, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Historic Lands Reacquisition Act.
Congressman Fleischmann's commonsense bill restores 76.1 acres of sacred land to the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians that was forcibly taken from the Eastern Band of Cherokee due to wrong and misguided federal government policies of the past.
Following Rep. Fleischmann's remarks, the House of Representatives unanimously passed the Eastern Band of Cherokee Historic Lands Reacquisition Act which corrects a historic wrong and fulfills Congress' repeated promises to the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.
