Congressman Chuck Fleischmann Leads Groundbreaking of New Environmental Disposal Cell in Oak Ridge

U.S. Representative Chuck Fleischmann (TN-03), was joined by local, state, federal, and private partners to break ground on the new Environmental Management Disposal Facility at the Oak Ridge National Lab and Y-12 National Security Complex.

This critical $550-million infrastructure project is an investment in East Tennessee's future. The new disposal cell means cleanup efforts will continue in Oak Ridge, leaving the local environment cleaner and healthier, investment in the Oak Ridge community will increase, and new national security missions can be conducted in once-contaminated areas.

The new disposal cell was brought to Oak Ridge because of years of persistent advocacy by Congressman Fleischmann.
