Fleischmann Hosted House Appropriations
Chair in Oak Ridge

Washington, D.C.— Yesterday Congressman Chuck Fleischmann hosted Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen (R-NJ), in a visit to Oak Ridge, Tennessee. During the visit the Congressmen toured Oak Ridge National Laboratory and the Y-12 National Security Complex.

Frelinghuysen is the new Chairman of the critical House Appropriations Committee, which funds the federal missions at Oak Ridge. During his tenure on the committee, Frelinghuysen has served on seven different subcommittees and chaired three panels. Fleischmann is beginning his third term on this vital committee.

“It is a pleasure to welcome Chairman Rodney Frelinghuysen to Oak Ridge, so he can see firsthand the vital work we are doing in the fields of science, nuclear cleanup and national security,” said Fleischmann. “As the Vice Chairman of the House Appropriations Energy and Water Subcommittee, I look forward to working with Chairman Frelinghuysen to further our common goal of creating a strong future for cities like Oak Ridge.”

“Congress’s first responsibility under the Constitution is to protect the American people. The men and women of Y-12 and the Oak Ridge National Laboratory continue to do incredibly important work for our national and economic security each and every day. As Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, I appreciate the briefing and Chuck Fleischmann’s energetic advocacy. I share his deep commitment to the future of this national treasure,” Frelinghuysen said.
