Fleischmann Announces 2019 Congressional App Challenge Winners

December 10, 2019
Press Release

CHATTANOOGA, TN — Congressman Chuck Fleischmann (TN-03) released the following statement announcing the winning app from the Third District in the nationwide Congressional App Challenge:

“Congratulations to Colby Bowers and Emily Swanson, the team from Sequoyah High School, who created the “School App,” the winning entry from the Third District in this year’s Congressional App Challenge. Like many of their peers, Colby and Emily understand the demands of school events, club meetings, sporting events, and preparing for success in college that can often be overwhelming for students in East Tennessee and across the nation. Thanks to Colby and Emily’s creativity and ingenuity, students now have an app to stay up to date, informed, and organized in an easily accessible and user-friendly manner. All 34 applications received this year were phenomenal, and I thank the creators of every app for their participation and encourage all middle and high school students to showcase their talents by participating in the Congressional App Challenge next year.”

Since 2015, the Congressional App Challenge has granted over 14,000 students across the country the ability to showcase their knowledge and skills in #STEM education. This program continues to inspire students to pursue careers in computer science. More information regarding the winning application’s features can be found here.
