House Republican Conference features Congressman Fleischmann’s remarks

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Chuck Fleischmann co-sponsored and voted for a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution today.

“I ran for Congress to get our fiscal house in order. Our crushing debt is the greatest threat facing our country right now, and it must be fixed. That is why I was proud to cast my vote for a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution today. This week our debt passed the $15 trillion mark; we can afford to wait no longer,” Fleischmann said.

“It is unfortunate that politics won the day. Democrats who voted for almost the exact same Amendment 16 years ago opposed today’s Amendment for the sake of politics and Party messaging. Our country deserves better, our children deserve better and our grandchildren deserve better.”

The House Republican Conference released a video today about the need for a Balanced Budget Amendment. They featured Congressman Fleischmann’s remarks from yesterday’s press conference, starting at 1:33. Click here to watch the video.
