Chuck Fleischmann returns nearly $80,000 to the American taxpayer

March 12, 2012

CHATTANOOGA – Congressman Fleischmann announced that he is returning $79,693.90 to the American taxpayer in a speech at the Pachyderm Club of Hamilton County. The money is left over from Rep. Fleischmann’s office budget for 2011.

“With a difficult economy, Congress should not be immune from the pain that Americans are feeling. I have voted twice to cut my office budget, once by 5% and once by 6.4%, resulting in significant savings. Additionally my office has also managed to save the taxpayer nearly $80,000. In my office, we look at everything from travel to computers to coffee in order to save money,” Fleischmann said.

“I am pleased to return $79,693.90 to the American taxpayer. Every dollar we can save to help pay down the deficit is critical to getting our nation back on track. Lawmakers must be frugal with the taxpayers’ money. Keeping a tight budget in a Congressional office sets a good example to our constituents that we are careful with their money.”
