Chuck Fleischmann praises Chairman Ryan’s “Path to Prosperity” Budget
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Chuck Fleischmann lauded the GOP budget introduced today by Chairman Paul Ryan.
"Many people in Washington talk about fixing the problems our country faces, while many less actually do something about it; Chairman Ryan, and the House Republicans, are doing something about our country's debt and deficit crisis. The plan unveiled by Chairman Ryan would cut over six trillion dollars in the next ten years, and reduce the deficit by over four trillion dollars. Returning our country to sustainable levels of spending is desperately needed, and this budget will do just that," Fleischmann said.
"Chairman Ryan's 2012 budget reforms welfare, reforms the tax code, reforms the budget process and saves Medicare and Medicaid. President Obama’s 2012 budget is exactly the opposite. The President proposes to increase spending, increase taxes and increase borrowing – all of which is wrong, and our country cannot afford them. Chairman Ryan and Republicans are leading on the issue of fiscal responsibility, while President Obama and Democrats in Congress continue the status quo and continue playing political games.
"I promised the voters of East Tennessee that I would come to Congress to work to end deficit spending, and return our country to a path of fiscal sustainability. The budget presented by Chairman Ryan provides a clear path to prosperous economic conditions for our economy. I look forward to working with him, and other members of Congress, as we lead in this time of crisis."
