Reading of the Constitution

January 6, 2011

I was proud to be present on the House floor today as the Constitution was read by members of both parties. It was an honor to be there as we, the servants of the people, returned to where this great country started – the document that holds the genius words and ideas of our Founding Fathers. I am also pleased that our Republican-led House adopted a rules package that requires a citation of constitutional authority for any bill a member introduces.

For too long now, there have been many who have been sent here to serve the people and lost sight of the fact our founding document gives the power to the people, and that we serve at the people's behest. I am glad we came together today and read the document that established this great country. I promise to abide by it, and do everything I can to ensure every other elected official does as well.
