July 11, 2014

WASHINGTON− Last night, the House of Representatives approved the 2015 Energy and Water Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations bill. The legislation provides annual funding for national defense nuclear activity, including much of the vital work that takes place in Oak Ridge, TN as well as the Army Corps of Engineers. After passage, Congressman Fleischmann, who serves as Tennessee’s lone appropriator and member of the Energy and Water Subcommittee, made the following statement.

“This bill is a key example of prioritizing spending, which is as crucial now as ever. As a result, there were some tough choices that had to be made. I am pleased that the important work taking place in Oak Ridge, TN has been recognized and that this bill fully funds the Uranium Processing Facility. Furthermore, Tennessee waterways projects, like the vital Chickamauga Lock, will receive important maintenance funding through this bill.”
