Chuck Fleischmann votes to disapprove of President Obama's request to raise the debt limit again
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Chuck Fleischmann voted to disapprove of President Obama’s request to raise the debt limit, for a second time in less than six months, to over $16 trillion.
“President Obama continues to spend money our country does not have and it must be stopped. For far too long our federal government has saddled our country with a debt that grows bigger by the day. It is time to make the tough decisions, get our fiscal house in order, and restore long-term fiscal solvency to our nation’s budget. We are literally being crushed under the weight of our debt. I ran for office promising to end the runaway spending, and today I continued to keep that promise,” Fleischmann said.
“I opposed the original plan that allowed for this debt increase without a Balanced Budget Amendment to our Constitution, and I will continue to fight for that much-needed fiscal restraint.”
