February 2, 2011

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Chuck Fleischmann held his first Tele-Town Hall meeting last night in which over 12,000 of his constituents from the 3rd District participated.

"I greatly enjoyed having the opportunity to speak with so many East Tennesseans last night as we discussed important issues going on in our country and around the world. Whether it is about health care, taxes, spending or events in the Middle East, I think it is important for citizens to always have direct access to their elected officials, and I was glad to speak with them about these issues last night. I look forward to doing this many times again in the future," Fleischmann said.

Poll questions asked during the town hall showed that:

  • 66% of participants thought tort reform should be a priority when replacing ObamaCare.
  • 40% of participants said spending was the most important issue for them, while health care was the most important issue for 38% of individuals participating.
  • 54% most wanted the income tax done away with, while 46% most wanted the death tax done away with.
