Chuck Fleischmann comments on the June jobs report

CHATTANOOGA – Congressman Chuck Fleischmann made the following comments after hearing that the economy added only 80,000 jobs and that unemployment remained at 8.2%.

“Today’s jobs report reminds us of the millions of unemployed Americans who want to work but simply cannot. It reminds us of the thousands of small businesses that want to expand and hire workers but simply cannot because they are being strangled by red tape and regulation. Republicans have offered a positive growth agenda, passing everything from a 20% small business tax cut, to an energy exploration bill that could create thousands of jobs, to regulatory reform so small businesses can know what their costs will be,” Fleischmann said.

“The unemployed Tennesseans I talk to want to go to work. The small businesses I talk to want to expand and hire. I created my own jobs plan because I recognize that we need less government if we are going to create more jobs. It is time that we provide the tools our job creators need to get Americans back to work.”
