Washington, DC – U.S. Representative Chuck Fleischmann (TN-03) introduced the bipartisan Benton MacKaye National Scenic Trail Feasibility Study Act, which would authorize a study to designate a 287-mile trail linking Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina as a National Scenic Trail. A companion bill was introduced in the Senate by U.S. Senator Thom Tillis (R-NC).
Legislation to study the feasibility of the Benton MacKaye Trail (BMT) to become a National Scenic Trail was reintroduced in Congress by State Reps. Chuck Fleischmann, Steve Cohen, Chuck Edwards and Lucy McBath; and Senators Thom Tillis, Raphael Warnock and Ted Budd.
The Benton MacKaye National Scenic Trail Feasibility Study Act of 2025 would direct the U.S. Forest Service to advance the process for formally designating the BMT as the country’s 12th National Scenic Trail.

"Today, the House voted for a long-term plan to rebuild our nation's aviation infrastructure. Included in this legislation are two amendments I was proud to offer aimed to improve our nation's airports and ensure that our skies are safe to travel for years to come.
Due to the combined efforts from the Tennessee State Parks, the Federal Highway Administration, National Parks Service and the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the Nemo Bridge in Morgan County will undergo restorations and rehabilitation to ensure the bridge meets safety requirements for foot and automobile traffic. Congressman Chuck Fleischmann accompanied Deputy Commissioner Brock Hill among others to celebrate the over 1 million dollars in grants and donations.
